Carefully researched and organized, God, Science and the Bible tackles head-on hard questions that relate to some of the most debated aspects of creation and the Christian faith. Along with new insights into the argument of design for the existence of God and the viability of the theory of evolution, the author adds his own compelling experiences of God’s reality. Anyone who wants to know how the Bible’s teaching stands up to questions about the age of the earth, the flood, fossils, carbon dating, ancient trees, etc., will find all the answers here!

What is evident is that in spite of the supernatural claim, this book tries to apply logic and science to something that is outside of their scope. On this basis alone, I have identified several areas where the science you cover is either not correct or not completely explained, and I will try to give some examples as follows:
- P17 Big Bang theory is stated as all things bursting out equally like spokes of a wheel. In fact, the Big Bang theory as it stands now predicts the opposite, in that the material of spacetime expanded in clumps. Big Bang theory also predicts there was a period prior to where the laws of physics came into force. To assume those laws applied right back to singularity is to put the cart before the horse.
- P17 In explaining why gases like hydrogen and helium could not form stars, you use Boyle’s law, stating that gases expand to fill the space available. This is a half-truth, in that Boyle’s law explains how the pressure of gas increases as the containing volume is decreased, providing temperature and the amount of gas remains constant. Other factors also impact on Boyle’s law, particularly gravity as can be clearly seen by looking up to the Earth’s atmosphere. We would all be in serious trouble if that gaseous layer wasn’t held in place by gravity.
- P18 States the mineral compositions of the Earth and Moon are very different. In fact, they are very similar, which supports the impact theory involving a Mars-sized body called Theia. This model clearly shows how the Moon could have formed and explains its orbit.
- P18 The rings of Saturn have never coalesced into a moon simply because there is nowhere near enough material contained in them, and they are not asteroid dust. They are made almost entirely of ice which is falling back to Saturn at a rate of around 1 Olympic swimming pool every 30 minutes so, in effect, they will be gone in the not too distant future. We know this because the rings have been flown through.
Putting aside the number of scientific inconsistencies, I would like to address other elements of the book as follows:
- The claim that religion hasn’t been the cause of most wars doesn’t seem relevant to me. People dying because of their religious beliefs would provide a better assessment, and millions who perished during the Second World War would probably agree.
- P39 When you refer to parts of the Bible that don’t match reality, stating that they might have been speaking poetically, it seems to be a way of having your cake and eating it as well. You can’t point to some parts of the Bible as fact and others as poetry without losing credibility, because interpretation is highly subjective.
- P49 A claim is made the extinction of the dinosaurs could be due to the great flood. This can’t be supported scientifically, given the dating processes we can apply, not for bones but the actual layers forming the Earth’s surface.
- P59 It’s claimed there could be various reasons God made mature rocks. This is another point where science conflicts, and the easy fall back is to point to the supernatural.
- In general, evolution seems to have been brushed over as being an impossibility. Whole rafts of evidence have been ignored, and even simple examples like pantropical dolphin fetuses have been passed over. These amazing creatures form with whiskers, and also develop forelimbs which are reabsorbed; clearly a connection to a four-limbed creature in its past.
I have tried to read this book with an open mind but I simply can’t reconcile a lot of its content and, coming from Australia, I have a fair understanding of a race that has a history going back 10,000 years. Nothing will make me believe their existence wasn’t possible before 3967 BC.
Statistics are used to expound on the content included in God, Science and the Bible. They offer a clearer picture of the discussions and they add to the information’s credibility. Where technical scientific information is included, straight-forward language that is easy to access is used. Notes also feature at the bottom of the pages in the book which further help in explaining the content. Arnold V Page includes his own personal experiences which heighten the understanding of the work and make it even easier to remember. It also offers a glimpse into his life which creates a connection to the author. The work approaches each topic from different angles and supports each discussion with rational arguments. God, Science and the Bible is carefully researched and organized. It is informative and life-changing.
God, Science and the Bible has an honest tone as Arnold V. Page uses scientific facts to explain the presence of God and through a faith-based perspective encourages others to open their minds. The book explores the existence of God by delving back into history and science that look at religion in the world. Page examines questioning of the existence of God, then weaves into the evidence for God. This explores three parts that include evidence of design, the resurrection, and personal experiences in the life of believers. Page also weaves personal experience throughout which allows for an honest connection with him and to be open to thinking about life in a different way or to look deeper into your own faith.
The book tackles science versus the Bible in a unique way that uses the origins of life and the universe, the role of the flood in various cultures, and the age of the earth, and that delves into fossils, evolution, and mutations throughout history. Page delivers thought-provoking facts and concepts that explore the commonality of the flood in ancient cultures, bristlecone pine rings, and a deep dive into the Bible with a look at the Old Testament and the concept of a literal interpretation of the verses. God, Science, and the Bible is a thought-provoking read about the Bible, faith, and the existence of God through science, history, and personal experience.
I am sure it will be recognised as an important book on Christianity and hope it gains the significant sales it merits.
